There’s more to the story…

Have you ever had something bad happen that turned out to be something good? I think the term is “blessing in disguise.” We’ve probably all heard the story of the family who was ready to set sail for America from overseas. They had saved and planned for the trip for a long time, and then at the last minute, one of the children got sick and they couldn’t go. They were devastated and even questioned God. And then a few days later, they were thanking God for the sickness. Why would they thank for that…..

totes mcgoats amazing!

I love to be outside. Maybe it’s because our house is so small and the outside is so big, but I just love to be out there. I’d rather go for a walk than exercise in the house. I love sitting out by a campfire and looking up into a clear, starry sky. I imagine what it was like when God told Abraham to try to count the stars. I dream about the wise men following the star to Jesus. I like to imagine what it was like when God spoke into the vastness of nothingness and stars formed. Play all 4!

My oldest son plays football. He plays receiver and corner back. And the first couple games of the season last year, they would be winning up until the 4th quarter. In the 4th quarter, they would just stop playing, and they would lose it. The mantra at practice became Play All 4! They would chant it. Coach would say it over and over, and the next game, sure enough, they played tough to the end. And they won. Abraham can show us a lot about persevering…about playing all 4…

I wasn’t going in a group. I was meeting up with missionaries over there and helping them for 6 weeks. Just little ‘ole me…all by myself. But I felt the Lord tug my heart to do it, so off I went. It wasn’t without it’s challenges, and to be honest, I was ready to just turn around and go home when I got there, but God was with me, encouraging me, and I really learned a lot about TRUST…

It’s a nail biter….

As I sit here trying to write this post, the Bama vs. Oklahoma game is on the TV. Half the room here is for Bama and half is for Oklahoma. One person is singing the theme song for Oklahoma the musical and one is singing Sweet Home Alabama. It’s actually kind of funny. Me, I’m just enjoying good football. We are 45 seconds from the half, and it’s hard to tell who is going to end up winning this game. The potential is there for it to go either way. It’s quite the nail biter…
