What’s the Goal?

It’s that time of year again. Time to look back on 2014 and look ahead to 2015 and remember. Reflect. Set goals. New Year’s resolutions and all that. Right before Christmas, Alli decided she wanted to help me bake, so she was measuring out all of the dry ingredients and making a bit of a mess. Which is fine…I’m a messy baker myself. But then she said something that made me pause. She looked at the flour and sugar and cocoa powder all over the table and said, “I’m a terrible baker. I should just let you finish.” She started to….

I’ll take that…

Okay. I have a confession to make. And I hope it helps you the way it has helped me today. My confession is….I can be a bit of a control freak. (And my husband said a huge AMEN!) I had never really realized it until a few years ago, and believe me, I’ve really endeavored to change. And I think I’ve made great strides in changing…but sometimes, I see it pop it’s ugly little head back up.

motive matters

Several years ago, I made a decision to eat healthier and start to exercise. My hormones and blood sugar were WAY out of whack and I had packed on about 60 extra pounds. My motive at first was just to feel better and get healthier. The weight loss was just a bonus. As time went on, my motive started to change and it became all about the weight loss. I was driven. I noticed when it was just about how I looked, I lost my joy and focus and it was much harder. I kept having to get my focus back on track…back to my health. My motive affected everything…
