Election Day has come and gone. Again. I’ve seen quite a few of them in my lifetime. Thank God we don’t have to watch those ads anymore. Am i right? And hopefully all the drama and unfriending on Facebook over political posts is over.
Whether you were happy with the results from last night or you woke up depressed about the state of the union, there is one fact that remains true today. God’s plan will prevail and His church will keep moving forward.
Do you know how I know this? Because Jesus said it would.
Upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it. (Matthew 16:18b)
If you were overly excited or extremely depressed this morning due to election results, you may have misplaced faith.
Hope for America is doesn’t hinge on who got ousted or elected as governor. It’s not dependent on who the Speaker of the House is. Or who sits in the Oval Office.
It doesn’t come from voting straight red or blue or purple or green.
It comes from this.
“I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.”
1 Timothy 2:1-4 NLT
Hope for America comes from the God who answers a praying church.
Let’s keep our eyes on the big picture. God is building a kingdom. His kingdom. And His plan is bigger than any election. Than any one nation. And His purposes will triumph.
“Some trust in and boast of chariots and some of horses, but we will trust in and boast of the name of the Lord our God.”
Psalm 20:7 AMPC
I’ll leave you with this quote by Paul Billheimer.
The praying people are the body politic of the world and the church holds the balance of power in world affairs. Not only in future ages is she the ruling and governing force in the social order, but even now, in this present throbbing moment, by means of her prayer power and the extent to which she uses it. The praying church is actually deciding the course of human events. Some day we shall discover that prayer is the most important factor shaping the course of human history. — Paul Billheimer —
If you have misplaced faith, it’s an easy fix. Just move it. Don’t put your trust in a man (or a woman) who cannot save.
Let’s put all of our hope and trust in God. He’s strong enough to guard it and powerful enough to perform His will no matter who is in office.
