Faith sees things differently

So, this view is what I saw on my walk today. Blue skies and beautiful, warm sunshine! And a teeny-tiny cloud! It’s been like that for days, and it looks like it will continue to be like that for days and days, which in my neck of the woods is a rarity. (I don’t think we had more than 2 days in a row with sunshine all summer long.)

There is no way I would ever look at that sky, with that one little tiny cloud, and think it would rain. No. Way. But faith sees things differently.

This is probably exactly what it looked like when Elijah kept sending his servant to look towards the sky for any sign of rain. God had said it was going to rain, after all. And Elijah was looking for it.

Seven times Elijah prayed. And six times his servant came back and said, “Dude, there’s nothing there. Nothing but blue skies smiling at me.”

But that seventh time was different. That seventh time his servant came back and said, “Well, not that it means much, but there’s a cloud the size of a man’s hand in the sky now.”

And that was enough for Elijah to say, “Get ready. Here comes the rain.”

Now that takes some faith. I saw the same view on my walk, and there’s no way it’s raining here today.

But God said it. Elijah prayed. He expected it. He looked for it. And God’s Word came to pass.

The same thing is true for us. What has God said to you that you don’t see yet? Healing? Provision? Freedom? Open doors?

Just because you don’t see it yet doesn’t mean you’re never going to see it.

Let’s be like Elijah. Let’s pray. Expect it. Look for it. He is faithful, and He will bring it to pass.

For the word of the LORD holds true, and we can trust everything he does.

The LORD merely spoke, and the heavens were created.

He breathed the word, and all the stars were born. (Psalms 33:4, 6 NLT)
