If you’re old enough, when I say the words Krazy Glue, the first image that will pop into your mind is the construction worker hanging high off the ground holding onto his hard hat as he dangles attached to the beam by only Krazy Glue. The idea was he was so convinced that Krazy Glue would hold him, he was willing to take that risk. He knew he wouldn’t fall. It would hold.
Krazy Glue is pretty strong, but in my few years here on earth, I have found something much stronger and more reliable in dangerous situations than Krazy Glue…..and it’s the Word of God.
In yesterday’s post, Reality…, we talked about how the promises of God are spiritual realities. A reality is the state or quality of having existence or substance. The promises of God have substance. They have existence, and our faith and trust in those promises is what brings them from heaven to earth. We aren’t just holding on to the Word like the guy clinging to his hat in the commercial….the One who spoke those promises has wrapped them around us like a blanket and is holding on to us!
About three o’clock in the morning Jesus came toward them, walking on the water. When the disciples saw him walking on the water, they were terrified. In their fear, they cried out, “It’s a ghost!” But Jesus spoke to them at once. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Take courage. I am here!” Then Peter called to him, “Lord, if it’s really you, tell me to come to you, walking on the water.” “Yes, come,” Jesus said. Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus. But when he saw the strong wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink. “Save me, Lord!” he shouted. Jesus immediately reached out and grabbed him. “You have so little faith,” Jesus said. “Why did you doubt me?” (Matthew 14:25-31)
Everyone knows that Peter walked on the water. But really, he didn’t walk on the water. He walked on the Word of God. Peter said, “If it’s You, tell me to come to You.” Peter waited for the Word. And once Jesus said, “Come!”, Peter walked out onto that Word like it was solid ground. As long as his focus was on the Word – on Jesus – he walked on solid ground. It wasn’t until Peter took his focus off the Word and put it on the storm that he began to sink.
God’s Word is stronger and more powerful than Krazy Glue. You can be sure if you walk out on it, you will stand. But you will never experience it for yourself until you take that step of faith and walk out on nothing but the Word.
- Noah stepped out on it and he and his whole house were the only ones saved from the flood.
- Abraham stepped out on it and became a father…and not just any father. He became the patriarch of the family through which the entire human race would be saved.
- Moses stepped out on it and saw the Red Sea part and water flow from a Rock.
- Joshua stepped out on it and took possession of the Promised Land at long last.
- Namaan stepped out on it and was healed of leprosy.
- The widow in I Kings stepped out on it and had supernatural debt cancellation.
- Elijah stepped out on it and ended a drought.
I could go on and on. What has He spoken to you that you need to step out on and dare to believe? And if you want to check up on what you believe, you can just check up on the words that are coming out of your mouth. What you believe is what you will be talking about.
It is written: “I believed; therefore I have spoken.” Since we have that same spirit of faith, we also believe and therefore speak, (2 Corinthians 4:13)
Let me to encourage you to be bold! Maybe it’s healing, or provision, or something He has told you to do for Him…..if He spoke it, it is already a reality to God. He lives in eternity….past present and future are the same to Him, and in His eyes, your miracle is past tense. Your faith to step out on the Word will bring it from faith to sight.
So what are you waiting for? Step out of the boat…the Word will hold you!
Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses]. (Hebrews12:1)
